Important Spring/Summer Reminders

  • A large item pickup has been scheduled for Saturday May 26/Sunday May 27.  Please refrain from discarding propane tanks, batteries, paint, and other hazardous materials.  Our landscape maintenance contractor, Greg, will be dropping off the trailer on the Saturday morning.  Please do not overfill it!
  • Again this year, you may fill paper yard waste bags and put them at the back of your unit for Greg to collect.
  • Please remember that owners may not make any changes to the common elements, including the planting of gardens, without Board approval.  Please submit a written request to property management.
  • Please be reminded that toys, bikes, brooms, etc. are to be stored in the backyard, not at the front of the unit.  Let’s all do our part in keeping West Village tidy and appealing!
  • With the temperature climbing, residents are reminded that window air conditioning units are not permitted in front windows; they are only to be placed in rear windows.
  • Any wading/“kiddie” pools must be emptied immediately after use and moved off the lawn to prevent grass damage.  Unattended pools pose a huge drowning risk; do not leave any pool unattended!
  • Residents are reminded that pet feces must be picked up on a regular basis. Do not allow it to accumulate!
  • Pets may not be tied up outside unattended; if a pet is outside, a person is to be outside too.
  • Yard sales are permitted at West Village; you may set up your wares at the boulevard along Rhonda Road.

Preventing Break & Enters

Remember these important security steps:

  • Lock all doors, windows, and garages at all times
  • Look through the door's window BEFORE opening the door
  • Use your porch light and rear yard light to help you to see clearly outside
  • Never rely on a chain-latch as a barrier to partially open the door
  • Never open the door to strangers or solicitors
  • Call the police if a stranger acts suspicious or if you see a suspcious person on the property (Go with your gut!  If it doesn't look like they belong, they probably don't.)
  • Alert your neighbors to suspicious solicitors or persons on the property
  • Hold a meeting with everyone you live with to discuss home security plans
  • Set the home perimeter alarm at night, if you have one

Updated Memorandum of Insurance

A new memorandum of insurance was mailed to all owners along with the Winter (December) newsletter. Owners are reminded about the importance of obtaining the appropriate homeowner’s insurance. While the condominium corporation insures the building structure and the common elements, the policy does not cover the interior of your unit. Please refer to the Standard Unit Bylaw so you can determine what you should be insuring. All tenants are reminded that they should be carrying content insurance for their personal property and all landlords should confirm this coverage is in place.
